Center parking in Amsterdam Centrum runs €50–€80/day and fills before 09:00. P+R (Park + Ride) lots ring the city at €1–€8/day with transit included — but the rules for after-hours free parking vary by lot and most visitors miss them.

How to read results
The verdict reports the total cost of parking + transit-in-transit-out for your group, and what you save vs center parking. The €1 ArenA rate applies if you arrive after 10am; before 10am it’s the full €8 day rate (still cheaper than the city).
The free overnight window (22:00–04:00) is the headline: arrive at 19:30, leave at 10:00 the next day, and your parking fee drops to €0 at any P+R that honors it. You only pay for the GVB day tickets.
Limitations
- Capacity at peak. P+R ArenA and Sloterdijk fill before concerts and Ajax matches. Arrive before 18:00 on event days or risk overflow.
- Free window is municipal, not national. Each P+R posts its own hours on the gate. Some only allow free 22:00–02:00; check before relying on it.
- No electric car share logic. P+R car-share parking for Greenwheels or MyWheels has its own zones; the calculator treats them as private lots.
- No street-sweeping avoidance. Many central streets are parking-prohibited Tuesday–Friday 09:00–14:00; the calculator ignores that since center parking is mostly garage-based.
FAQ
Does the P+R ticket really include the GVB day tickets?
Sloterdijk: yes, 2 GVB day tickets included in the €8. Other P+R lots: usually €1–€3 per person for the round-trip metro ride. Verify on the P+R machine receipt — it\'s a separate claim ticket for the transit.
Is P+R ArenA safe overnight?
The ArenA lot has 24-hour patrolled security and lighting. Diemen is less so; check your car for valuables. Sloterdijk is fine — near the train station, well-trafficked.
What if I have a tall van or camper?
Most P+R lots have height barriers (~2.0m). For vehicles above 2.1m you need a designated camper lot — try Vamaris Amsterdam or stay at a campsite outside the ring.
Can I park overnight on a Saturday?
Saturday daytime the rates are similar. Overnight (22:00–04:00) is free at most P+R. Sunday all-day free at ArenA and Olympisch Stadion during summer (May 1–Sept 30).
