What this solves
Anne Frank House is the hardest museum ticket in the Netherlands. Almost every guide says “book online in advance” but doesn’t tell you exactly when the slots open, how fast they sell out, and what to do if you’re a few days out from your trip.
- Tuesday 10:00 Amsterdam time release: new tickets open exactly 6 weeks (42 days) ahead. They sell out within 30-90 minutes for weekends and holidays.
- Free under 10, mandatory online for all others. Walk-up is no longer accepted at the door (since 2024). The museum is ticket-only.
- Combo with Jewish Cultural Quarter. €20 combined ticket for Anne Frank House + Portuguese Synagogue + JHM (€4 off). Different release schedule.
The calculator
0 = trip is today. 42 = exactly the release window. 7+ = past release for this trip.
How to read results
The “Releases open” field tells you whether you’re in the on-sale window or pre-release. If you’re 42 days out, the slot opens Tuesday 10:00 Amsterdam time exactly.
“Sell-out time” is the typical elapsed minutes from release to fully booked. Friday afternoon slots sell out fastest (25 min); Tuesday morning slots hold for hours.
Limitations
- No walk-up tickets since 2024. If you don\'t have a slot you don\'t enter. Don\'t queue physically.
- Resale is illegal. Tickets are non-transferable; the museum checks ID against booking name. Don\'t buy from third parties.
- The €16 is museum-only. It does not include the bookshop. Books in the shop are full-price, no printing discounts.
- Jewish Cultural Quarter combo is different. The €20 combo ticket for Anne Frank + Portuguese Synagogue + JHM is sold separately and has its own availability — don\'t assume both are available together.
FAQ
Can I just walk up to the Anne Frank House?
No. Since 2024 the museum is fully online-only. Walk-ups are turned away. The bookshop remains accessible without a ticket.
Is the bookshop free to enter?
Yes — you can walk in to browse Anne Frank literature, books about WWII, and Dutch-language editions. The €16 ticket is for the museum only.
What if my child is under 10?
Free — but they still need a timeslot booked online. The under-10 price is €0; the under-4 price is also €0 (just bring any valid tickets for the family\'s timeslot).
Does the Museumkaart get me in?
No. Anne Frank House is one of the few Amsterdam museums NOT included in the Museumkaart year card. €16 fee always applies.
